Sometimes I drink beer for the effect or the refreshing taste, then sometimes I nerd out and like to mull over the hop variations in a new IPA I’ve stumbled across. In either situation having a decent glass only serves to enhance the experience, I mean it won’t change the chemical make-up of the liquid, but psychologically it can effect the enjoyment of the beverage. Pretentious Beer Glasses won’t take a pint of Fosters from a zero to a 10, but they can take a nice Pilsner from a 6 to an 7.
I recently stumbled across what might be the daddy of unique glassware – “The Pretentious Beer & Glass Company”. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, one-man-band glass blower Matthew Cummings produces incredibly cool, hand blown beer and whisky vessels to enhance your drinking experience. Some are focused on form and aesthetic, some are carefully to designed to funnel aroma and some have neat little features like pre-carved finger dents to limit how much heat is transferred from your grip.
Whatever your need/want, you’ll be blown away (pun intended) by the sheer quality and unique designs. Check out some imagery below alongside a mini-doc from UPROXX and for more info head to their ETSY SHOP.
