Emporium is one of my favourite bars to visit in Chicago, both their Logan Square & Wicker Park locations are excellent for relaxing and spending an evening playing vintage arcade games or pinball. Recently the team has started to host a series of rotating bar/music/shop experiences inside the larger Logan Square site. Starting with a SURF theme back in 2016 and followed by an eclectic mix of collaborations with the likes of Fernet Branca, Pipeworks Brewing Co, Run The Jewels & indie game collective Bit Bash.
The latest pop up/project ‘The Upside Down’ is an homage to everyones favourite throwback horror franchise ‘Stranger Things’. Featuring fully themed rooms with nods to key locations and moments within the show, such as the Christmas light ouija wall, Benny’s Burgers, fencing from the government Laboratory and much more from around the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.
With such a visually striking show to emulate, the team have gone above and beyond with their decor and theming, hooking up with local artists and designers to create something truly special.
